Why Castile Soap is Better Than Body Wash

Even if you’ve never used it yourself, you’ve probably heard the term “Castile soap” before at some point. It’s a type of soap that’s been around since the middle ages.

But what makes Castile soap so special? And why should you switch from body wash to Castile soap in your shower? Well, there are several reasons!

Have you ever looked at the ingredient list on the back of your body wash and thought, “What do those unpronounceable words even mean?” Do you worry about what those ingredients might be doing to your skin?

Well, in this post, we’ll break down some important differences between typical body wash and Castile soap and explain why Castile soap is the winner.

What is Castile soap?

Castile soap is a vegetable-based soap made from olive oil. In other words, it’s actually soap – not the synthetic chemical-based soap you often find in body washes on the market.

Castile soap is often used as a face wash or hand soap, and it can be used to clean your hair too.

Since it’s so mild, it’s perfect for sensitive skin and hair – no matter what your age or skin type! Most importantly though, it doesn’t contain harsh chemicals or synthetic ingredients that all too often cause irritation.

What is body wash?

As you probably already know, body wash is basically a liquid soap for your body. In that sense, it’s a lot like Castile soap.

But here’s an important difference between the two: Body wash is typically made with a variety of unnecessary ingredients, like surfactants, detergents, synthetic fragrances, and coloring.

Body washes are also generally made with preservatives to keep them from going bad quickly – which is great for extending shelf life, but not so great for your skin.

Avoid synthetic fragrances and coloring

Synthetic fragrances and colors are often used in personal care products and body washes. But that doesn’t mean you have to use them!

Natural fragrances and colors are always a better option when it comes to your skin. The reason?

Synthetic scents can be irritating or even toxic, while natural scents like lavender or lemongrass essential oils smell just as good without harming your skin.

It might be time to switch from body wash to Castile soap

Castile soap is better for your skin, better for the environment, and better for your wallet.

If you’re already a fan of Castile soap, keep doing what you’re doing! But if you haven’t tried it yet — or if you’ve never heard of Castile soap at all — be sure to check it out. Your skin will thank you.

Here’s a recap of just a few things that make Castile soap better than a typical body wash:

  • Castile soap is natural and biodegradable, whereas body wash often contains toxins and preservatives that can harm the environment.
  • Castile soap is organic and olive oil based, whereas body wash is made from synthetic chemicals.
  • Castile soap has been tried and tested for centuries, whereas body wash is relatively new.

Conclusion

So there you have it. If your skin is sensitive to detergents, switching to a more natural body wash is better than using a run-of-the-mill bar of soap.

But if you’re looking for more than what most conventional body washes offer, then an organic Castile soap might be a better choice.

You’ll get the benefits of a gentle cleanser without having to worry about irritation.
