Why Matcha is Definitely Worth the Hype

Matcha is a nutrient-rich tea that has become incredibly popular in the last few years.

From lattes to cakes, infusing treats and drinks with matcha powder isn’t going anywhere, and for good reason! Compared to basic green tea, matcha has much more antioxidant and caffeine content. Who wouldn’t want an extra pep in their latte?

Matcha powder is made from the Camellia Sinensis plant, which is the same plant as green tea.

One interesting difference between the two, though, is that matcha is kept from sunlight for a month. Why? Because this farming process changes the nutrient make-up, allowing a higher amino acid build-up in the plant. Amino acids help keep your muscles healthy and growing, which can, in turn, lead to fat loss in the arms, legs, and belly.

This means that matcha isn’t just a healthy addition to your diet – it can also help you safely shed extra weight over time. Pretty cool, right?

Give Your Body an Antioxidant Boost

We all hear about how antioxidants are necessary for our health, but what exactly do they do? Antioxidants are naturally found in the human body, but there’s nothing dangerous about adding to your body’s supply. Antioxidants are amazing because they balance out cell-damaging radicals that can lead to chronic illness.

So, replacing your run-of-the-mill drink with a hot matcha latte can help your body battle all those germs floating around, especially during cold and flu season when the temperature drops.

Strengthen Your Brain

Caffeine is part of most people’s morning routine, but did you know it’s scientifically proven to boost brain function? According to a study from 2016, brain function, reaction time, memory, and attention span are all improved by caffeine consumption.

Matcha powder is full of caffeine, but it also has additional health benefits compared to a regular cup of coffee. For example, it’s much more gentle on sensitive stomachs, and some studies even suggest that plain matcha may even promote better oral health. What’s not to love?

Protect Your Heart

Does heart disease run in your family? Adding a cup of matcha tea to your afternoon pick-me-up lunch can help reduce the risk of heart disease. Green tea decreases bad cholesterol that can lead to heart disease, and matcha’s similar nutritional content means it can help your heart, too.

Make Weight Loss Easier

As we mentioned before, amino acids are an important pillar in muscle growth. But matcha has also been shown to speed up your metabolism. Skipped the gym today? Have an extra cup of matcha tea to help accelerate your metabolism while you’re taking a day off to relax.

Is exercise the way you burn fat and de-stress? Studies have shown green tea or matcha powder intake combined with exercise increases fat burning by over 15%.

Convinced? We are!

Adding natural nutrients and antioxidants to your day is a great way to create an extra layer of protection from disease.

Struggling at work? Matcha might have just the right boost your brain needs to increase concentration and focus. Add it to your diet to help promote healthy fat burning in combination with a good diet and exercise.

If you want to try out some matcha recipes at home, there are plenty of places to purchase the powder. Local chain stores sell matcha, but it’s always best to buy from the country of origin: Japan.

Luckily, no matter where you live, there are plenty of online stores that sell matcha powder directly from the source. Try Ocha & Co or Jade Leaf Matcha for quality matcha powder delivered right to your door!
